Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program

This bill provides $300 million each biennium for the next 10 years, ensuring financial stability of the grant program. Most movies about Texas aren’t even filmed here anymore. We’re losing our stories and the jobs that come with them to Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Georgia. That means we’re handing away billions in economic impact and letting other states profit off our identity. Investing in film incentives will not only support producers and artists working in Texas, but will also benefit local restaurants, hotels, dry cleaners, and small businesses. My amendment on SB 22 brings San Antonio into the conversation, making sure our historic sites and schools are at the forefront of this incentive.
